Netherlands youth group visit

A group of nine young adults from the Netherlands visited ALJECO Home on March 1st, 2023. They are all connected with a church in Hoogeveen and via Jeroen who is ALJECO Donor Liaison Director they joined one of his visits to Tanzania.

As part of their travels to Tanzania, these young people visited one of the national parks in the country, Morogoro. Here, they saw animals and nature up close. For example, they observed elephants, giraffes, and zebras in their natural habitat, as well as a variety of bird species. After spending some time in Morogoro they travelled on to Ntyuka where the orphanage is located in the Dodoma region.

Young adults interacted with ALJECO children and visited local markets. They were so friendly to ALJECO staff and children. Despite the limited time, they made the most of their stay. They enjoyed the beauty of the local landscape and the hospitality of the Tanzanian people. They did some incredible things with the children during their short stay. These included constructing goals for the basketball and football courts, as well as painting part of the ALJECO logo on one of the walls. This really was teamwork. In the hot afternoon sun they all played a part in this awesome painting.

Once all was finished it was time for a football game. To celebrate their effort and work, they had lunch with the children after the game. The day ended with everyone feeling proud of their accomplishment and looking forward to the next project. They left with fond memories of the trip and a longing to return one day. It will be remembered fondly and provide valuable lessons for the future.
